Welcome to The High Life, Highstreet's new fortnightly newsletter!
We know what you're thinking… You already follow Highstreet on X, Telegram, and Discord, so why are we starting another channel?
The fact is we're taking Highstreet World's development to a new level. The projects, campaigns, and partnerships we've been working on over the past few years are coming together, and we felt like we needed a larger canvas to share these updates with our community.
So, every two weeks, we'll share some of these highlights. They could cover our recaps of events that were hosted or attended by the Highstreet team, dev updates, commentary from our team about the latest happenings in Web3 and the AR/VR space, announcements, and more. We'll also drop in bits of the colorful lore behind Highstreet World, so you'll get to know more about the history, tech, magic, and culture shaping the lives of everyone in Highstreet City.
For our first edition, we're hyped to tell you about a project that our team is involved in. It will literally be a game changer for developers and gamers around the world. Let's dive in!
Introducing Gudchain
We're excited to be part of an amazing new project. Highstreet is a strategic partner of Gudchain, which is designed as a one-stop platform built on top of Optimism's OP Stack to make it easier for game developers to use blockchain technology. The goal is to introduce web3-powered games to all types of gamers around the world.
Highstreet will specifically help Gudchain kick start its ecosystem as the first major gaming partner. Gudchain is still in its earliest stages, but it's already making headway, with a host of mobile game developers signed on to use the application chain. Gudchain and Highstreet will be sharing information about these partners over the coming months.
If you're wondering: yes, there will be a GUD token. We'll share more information about this very soon. In the meantime, Gudchain will roll out a staking program this month, and holders of HIGH tokens and Forever FOMO Duck Squad NFTs will benefit the most from the campaign. Keep your eyes on Gudchain's posts on X and Telegram to be among the first to know when details are announced.
Highstreet at Forked
he Highstreet team has been on the road to keep our momentum going. In early May, we were in Hong Kong as a co-host of Forked, an event that is the brainchild of serial crypto conference organizer Addy Creeze. Aside from sharing high-level plans about Highstreet and the HIGH token with VIPs, we had Quest 3 headsets ready at our booth for everyone attending the event to experience Highstreet World up close and personal. And merch!
Visitors trekked through an area called The Gardens, which has jungle-like terrain after Green Lunarite—more on that below—made the flora grow out of control. These intrepid explorers did more than roam off the beaten path; they were tasked with gathering ingredients for Munk, a Duck chef who was preparing a feast for Highstreet City council members.
We received great feedback from the crowd, and Forked's attendees were excited to see Highstreet World's VR version being built out. Perhaps unsurprisingly, people wanted to see more Ducks!
Lore Fragment: Lunarite Ore
FOMO Ducks inhabit a world that is full of mystique. One natural resource that has shaped Patos—the Duck planet—is Lunarite, an essential part of Duck technology which has evolved over eons. Specifically, Lunarite has been important for the Ducks because it provides power to every invention used by Ducks.
More than an ore that is extracted for industrial uses, Lunarite has magical properties too. During a dark time when the FOMO Ducks hunted skybound Moonwhales for their organs to supercharge Lunarite Cartridges and kickstart an industrial era, the crystals were used as weapons, set as harpoon tips, deployed as explosives, or even used to create tractor beams—all to kill the majestic beasts.
Fast forward a few hundred years. Now, FOMO Ducks no longer kill Moonwhales and use parts of their bodies as a power source. Instead, they utilize a new, more advanced technology—Lunarite Power Cells developed in tandem with human scientists to supply energy to Highstreet City. In this state, the Lunarite Crystals are safer, lighter, and more powerful than anything the Ducks had before. You can identify their properties based on their glow:
Dark blue: Lunarite Power Cells' natural state before maturity. Raw Lunarite can take on new traits based on its environment.
Light blue: Effective for manipulating air; used for levitation.
Clear: Effective for manipulating water.
Green: Effective for manipulating and creating plant life.
Pink: Effective for healing.
Red: Effective for manipulating and creating fire.
Purple: Raw power that can be supplied to machines, but highly volatile.
We wonder what fresh secrets about Lunarite will be unlocked by the Highstreet community.
