Welcome back to The High Life.
This week, we're taking you behind the scenes to get a glimpse of how the Highstreet team is creating a gameplay demo for our upcoming event. As we've mentioned before, participants will be dropped into The Gardens to face off with waves of robots that have gone rogue. We're looking forward to seeing players hack and slash through these enemies, and we hope you are too!
Also, we've launched an archive for The High Life. To recap any of our recent posts—especially if any of our past editions didn't land in your inbox—visit www.highstreet.market/newsletter to check out recent developments, lore fragments, and our comic Highstreet Chronicles.
Now, let's dive into the latest from the Highstreet team.
Psst… Ready for another sneak peek at the upcoming demo that will let players stave off a robot threat in The Gardens?
Here you go.
Our team is excited to give people a taste of the combat system in Highstreet World. It'll be a blast. Guests who show up at the live event might be able to snatch up some fresh swag too. Keep an eye out…
Behind the vibrant landscapes and thrilling adventures of Highstreet World lies a dedicated team of creators, each pouring their passion and expertise into crafting the metaverse we've come to love. One of them is David Uzcategui, Highstreet's Creative Design Lead. As he meticulously works on FOMO Duck illustrations, David's artistry breathes life into the characters that populate Highstreet City and beyond.
While it's easy to get swept up in the excitement of battling rogue robots or exploring Acetown, it's crucial to remember the countless hours of brainstorming, designing, and refining that go into every aspect of Highstreet World. From the writers crafting intricate lore to the developers coding complex interactions, each team member plays a vital role in shaping this immersive experience. As we enjoy the fruits of their labor, let's take a moment to appreciate the human ingenuity and dedication that make our digital adventures possible.
While Capp'n Featherbird led his crew as a legendary sea-faring Duck, eager to plot new courses and discover unexplored locales, Pelican society had sent scouts to Acetown to gather intelligence about the Ducks who had arrived at Solera.
To the Pelican scouts' surprise, Acetown had been developed into a functioning city, and the Ducks were tapping into an important resource—Lunarite—to develop their own magic and technology.
The Protectors of the Past were an offshoot of the Pelicans' Church of the Soil that held onto age-old beliefs of guarding against The Gloom, a force that fed off negative emotions and energy. These traditionalists warned against the Ducks' presence in Acetown, warning their fellow Pelicans that Duck society's development looked much like the events preceding the rise of The Gloom.
Unfortunately, most Pelicans thought of The Gloom as little more than a myth—the stuff of bedtime stories for children. Few heeded the warnings of the Protectors, but conflict was already brewing between the Pelicans and Ducks…
Making Highstreet World is an adventure in itself. Our team is spread around the globe, pooling our creative talents to constantly sharpen our ideas and turn them into part of the playable, explorable metaverse. We're excited to showcase our demo in September, and we'll be sure to give our readers a recap of the event.
