The Gardens aren't just beautiful…they're dangerous. This week, we're showing off a few snapshots from the gameplay of Highstreet: Calamity. From damage boosts to titan-sized truffle strikes, and of course the Adventurer's signature blades—these previews give you a taste of the chaos waiting ahead.

Snaps from the Garden Arena

The Highstreet team has been super excited! We've been putting on our Meta Quest headsets since August, walking around the Garden Arena, testing out weapons, channeling abilities, fighting bots, and beating down truffles by testing out Highstreet: Calamity.

It reminded us of the days when our adrenaline shot through the roof by dropping into a new level in Serious Sam. Thinking back to the first time we cleared a horde of Kleer Skeletons brought a tear to our eye.

You can expect an experience that's more up close and personal. Armed with the Adventurer's bladed weapons, you'll need to hack and slash your way through waves of enemies.

But you'll have all sorts of ways to make it through! Arena Consumable items will give boons. An example is the Elemental Dissonance Shard: Ignis Echo, or EDS: Ignis Echo. It adds an additional fire bonus to your attacks. Just crush it to obtain its benefits.

… making your sword strikes even more dangerous.

Take pride in taking down enemy after enemy, and watch them disintegrate in front of your eyes…

… until a much bigger one comes along, and you'll really have to focus to take it down.

The Titan Truffles have become one of our more iconic beasties in the world of Highstreet, and among the team! There is just something about facing off against a Towering Toadstool that makes us really want to launch into the arena!

Sneak Peek: Around the Arena

If you were dropped into Highstreet World today, could you find your way to the Chaos Arena?

That's a challenge that every new entrant into this area of Highstreet City needs to navigate. Few people who slip into SIMUs have the lay of the land.

But we're to solve part of the problem. Check this out! It's a quick look at the Chaos Arena and its immediate surroundings, from the bird's-eye view:

The gardens of Highstreet City is larger than one might think, but for Highstreet: Calamity, we are mostly focused on the Greenhouse that was overwhelmed during the event of the Calamity.

In the south, from where the SIMU factory, is there is nothing but dense and verdant vegetation that is constantly growing. Where paths that were cleared one day might be blocked by vines, leaves, and other manner of flora the next. Within the greenery, all manner of dangerous fauna lurk, waiting to snatch or attack passers-by who let their guard down. And that's only a small part of The Gardens, which have much more to explore.

With in the Arena setting where you will make your own path, from the start location all the way to the golden arena doors. On that path you'll see keeping the Gardens' plant life from engulfing civilization requires a fleet of selfless bots. But we all know how the drawbacks are playing out…
